About ☭ tankPad

tankPad is a light coding and note taking app designed for the Tor mobile browser.

Many other note apps save your notes to a corporate server or are large in size and complexity.

tankPad's philosophy is simple minimalism.

You can view and edit the base tankPad code in tankPad itself.

You can change, preview, and download your new tankPad version and run it directly on your device in many web browsers. (Chrome, Opera, etc...)

tankPad doesn't even need the internet for its basic functions, and can be used offline.

tankPad is still in development, so there will be bugs. Save your work often.

☭ Basic Site Editing Top

For security reasons, citizens must use Tor to edit the Sortition website. Click on the Menu ≡ icon, then Apps, then choose the primary secure tankPad server...

(Don't have Tor btowser? click here)

To start, click on the gear "⚙️" icon to show the extended menu, then the open folder "📂" icon.

This will give you a list of the current web files.

Click on the file with your name on it. It will look something like...

vladimir.html

After a moment the html version of your web page will be displayed.

Your page's html code will look something like this...

This is our basic html template.

You can think of the top and bottom portion of the website as part of a form you don't need to change. If you accidentally alter it, there's a backup, so no worries.

Between the...

⬇️EDIT BELOW THIS LINE⬇️

section and the...

⬆️EDIT ABOVE THIS LINE⬆️

section, you can edit your page. The text between these symbols <> are commands to format the text.

Just below the edit line you should see the <h1> command.

This is a highlight type 1 or headline type 1 command. You "close" the command using the same brackets as before <>, but put a / before h1, so it looks like this...

</h1>

All text between these two commands will use the highlight type 1 style.

Change the text between highlight type 1, and do the same for highlight type 2.

Add a short message in the text area, and we are ready to preview.

At the top right of tankPad, you will see the glasses "👓" icon. Click the glasses to open another tab in your browser with your new content. When done, simply close that tab and you will be back to the editor.

Before we move on, if you had put more than one paragraph, you probably noticed that the paragraphs merged together in the preview. You didn't do anything wrong. This is just how html works.

The easiest way to create the "line break" (or enter) command, is to type <br><br> after your paragraph. These commands are like hitting the enter button twice. Feel free to try it!

Fill in your user name and password, then click the "📤" upload icon. There will be a series of security notifications, then a 201 "Success" notification.

The 201, means the file was successfully sent, but if youbwant to manually confirm your file was uploaded, click on the same "📂" "open folders" button.

Find your file again, but this time hold the link (right click). This will bring up browser options. Choose the option that most closely matches something like "open in new tab". Navigate to that new tab to see the live change. *You may have to refresh to see your changes.*

If everything looks good, close the tab, you are done editing. Great job!

If you have any trouble, feel free to reach out and ask for support.

Now that you know how to edit your own user file, you can follow the same process to edit any part of the website.

That's all!

I love you comrades.

☭ Changing your password To Top

In order to securely update your tankPad password you must do the following...

1. From tankPad, open options ⚙️, then high security 🔑.

2. Enter your username, current password, and new password.

3. Click the "password builder" button. 🔑

4. Send the zero-trust password request to the server. 📤

5. Edit your user page to confirm the change was accepted.

* tankPad's "zero-trust" password means your real password never leaves your browser so that even if the server is compromised, your password will never be seen by anyone but you.
