☭ About TOR
The Onion Router (Tor)
Tor is a free, privacy-focused network that lets you browse the internet anonymously. It is like a powerful VPN, with even more security and anonymity features.
With Tor, your internet traffic is wrapped in multiple encryption layers (like an onion), and data is sent through at least three volunteer-run servers chosen at random.
While each server knows its neighbor, no server sees both your computer and your request.
This powerfull security makes Tor browsing slightly slower than regular internet traffic, but the safety and security improvements are well worth the trade off in most cases.
Purpose
The primary purpose of Tor is to hide your browsing history, identity, and location from governments and corporations. While it can also help bypass some blocked websites, other corporate and government websites try extremely hard to block Tor exactly because not being able to track you means they can't control you. It tends to be a constant battle between Tor upgrades, and corporate and government tracking methods.
Who Uses Tor
Tor is used by journalists, activists, whistleblowers, and more, but also can be used for harmful activities, so it's important to use Tor responsibility.
While no system is 100% foolproof, Tor is the global standard for fighting government and corporate spying and censorship.
How To Use Tor

or search for "Tor Browser" from Duck Duck Go, or most other search engines, but not Google. Google fights hard against internet freedom, and frequently block Tor.
